To celebrate making and maker culture Linden Public Library will be having its first NJ Makers Day on Saturday, March 18th, 2017 from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. We will be introducing our new 3D printer and demonstrating how it works. The public will also have the opportunity to meet our new robot named Finch who will give a tour of the library. There will be games and projects that are both challenging and fun which will be set up at various stations for everyone to try out.
NJ Makers Day is designed to be a statewide event that introduces and promotes maker culture, as well as the values associated with making, tinkering and STEM-based learning.
The maker movement in the United States isn’t just a hobby; it’s having a significant impact on school curriculum development and growing local economies. Participating locations include public and academic libraries, schools, museums, commercial makerspaces, and AC Moore stores, as well as sponsorship from such organizations as LibraryLinkNJ, littleBits Electronics, and ManufactureNJ. Sign up for Linden Public Library NJ Maker’s Day will be at the circulation desk. The program will take place in the Columbia Bank Room on the 3rd Floor.
