Thanks to our Friends of the Library, we are now able to offer hotspots. We have six that patrons are able to check out for up to fourteen days. Please contact us for more information if you are interested. It will give you the ability to use a phone, tablet, or laptop even if you don’t have a WiFi connection of your own. I’ve tried it myself and it works great.
Speaking of the Friends, they are bringing back their monthly dining fundraisers. In the past our supporters have been able to visit restaurants like TGI Fridays, Friendly’s, and various local diners and pizzerias and have a percentage of their bill donated to the organization, which will benefit the library. Our next one is February 24th at Chipotle in Clark.
We are excited to be able to now offer online registration for our meeting rooms at http://www.lindenpl.org/Meeting. You will be able to see immediately whether or not a room is available for your desired time(s). You can still contact us as well. Our meeting room has spiked in recent months, with us regularly having them used between ninety and a hundred times a month. In addition to our three meeting rooms of various sizes, we also have a computer lab which organizations have used for training purposes.
Linden residents are now able to fill out a library card registration at http://126.96.36.199:8086/onlineBorrowerRegistration.html. Follow the instructions and we will have all the pertinent information in the database when you arrive. You will still need to come in and produce appropriate identification in order to receive the physical card.
We continue to offer a wide variety of programs throughout the year, for both children and adults. Storytimes, financial workshops, concerts, and an annual Santa visit are among what we offer. We have at least one animal program each year, usually in the summer. We will schedule that soon. Last year we started a Dungeons & Dragons group. We got a lot of interest but, unfortunately, the Dungeon Master had to bow out and as a result we have been unable to continue offering this. Should anyone be interested in taking on this responsibility, please reach out to us.
One program of note is Chair Yoga, which we have been offering Friday mornings at 10:00 am. The program lasts for about an hour. We were only supposed to offer it for a limited time, but it proved to be such a popular program that we now plan to offer it indefinitely. Check it out. I’ve gotten nothing but positive feedback on it.
We recently started offering Fax 24, which is a self-service kiosk through which patrons can send faxes. An attached phone will walk you through the process. It will accept credit cards or you can purchase a payment card at the circulation desk. We have offered fax services for many years but having this dedicated terminal should make it a quicker process.
